2025–'26 Colorado Pro Ski/Snowboard Events, 1950s Tennessee Pass
In this week's newsletter: The Colorado pro snow event schedule for the winter, Tennessee Pass Continental Divide signs.
This image comes from a Kodak Kodachrome slide that was cataloged into the archives this week. The slide was likely created during the late 1950s or 1960s.
Ski Cooper is located right across the road from this sign, and Camp Hale is located straight ahead, just a few miles down the road. The military installation at Camp Hale, built during WWII, was largely decommissioned by the time that this image was captured. However, the CIA continued training Tibetan troops there until the 1960s.
The postcard below is one of the oldest in the collection. It shows the first sign that was added on Tennessee Pass in the early 1900s. This image was likely captured between 1915-1930. See this postcard in the archives here.
