Cataloging a Trio of Winter Park 30th Anniversary Lift Tickets
Colors abound in this group of lift tickets from 1970.
A group of three 1970 Winter Park lift tickets was cataloged into the archives this week.
Skiing began at Winter Park in 1940. However, people had been skiing in this area since the mid-1930s. Plans to develop a campground and ski trail at the western portal of the Moffat Tunnel were announced by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the summer of 1934 (ref).

1979 Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Medal - Take It Out?
This is another recent arrival to the archives.
Collectors love to have things in the original packaging. While this isn’t the coolest of all packaging, it is functional. This may get taken out of the plastic eventually, but there is no need yet.


The medal celebrates the Denver & Rio Grande’s narrow-gauge line between Durango and Silverton. A train still runs on this route today for tourists.
